Author: Rick Riordan
Publisher: Disney Hyperion Books
Pages: 377
Series: Percy Jackson and the Olympians #1
Release Date: March 1st 2006
Where I Got It: Chapters

Synopsis: Percy Jackson is about to be kicked out of boarding school... again. And that's the least of his troubles. Lately, mythological monsters and the gods of Mount Olympus seem to be walking straight out of the pages of Percy's Greek mythology textbook and into his life. And worse, he's angered a few of them. Zeus' master lightning bolt has been stolen, and Percy is the prime suspect.

Now Percy and his friends have just ten days to find and return Zeus' stolen property and bring peace to a warring Mount Olympus. But to succeed on his quest, Percy will have to do more than catch the true thief: he must come to terms with the father who abandoned him; solve the riddle of the Oracle, which warns him of betrayal by a friend; and unravel a treachery more powerful than the gods themselves.

REVIEW

For years, this novel has been on my to-read list, and I'm so glad I took the time to read it: it was amazing. I know what you're thinking: you can like it, but it's a novel for children. And that is wrong. It is not a novel for children; I'm not a child anymore and I loved it. It was enticing and captive because it held my attention through the course of time I was reading it. When I put it down for dinner or lunch, or a trip to the store, it was on my mind the entire time!

The story was about a boy who finds out he is the son of Poseidon. His mother takes him to a camp for people like him, where they will train him to "kill" these monsters that will come after him. When I say kill, I don't actually mean kill. The monster goes back to Hades where it came from, and it may be decades, years, or months but the monster can eventually come back. Anyway, Percy goes to this camp and, I have to say this was one of my absolute favourite parts: he meets a few nice people, a few mean people. He meets this girl named Clarisse who is one of the meaner kids. He drenches her in toilet water. Honestly, any kid who had been bullied would want to read this book just for that! It made me laugh out loud. Many other scenes did too, and that's why this book is going on my favourite book list.

This book is for children to feed their imaginations, but the best part of this is adults who read this can enjoy it just as much! Adults have imaginations too; don't be afraid to use them!

FOUR AMAZING STARS!

Review: Reboot by Amy Tintera

13517455Title: Reboot
Author: Any Tintera
Publisher: HarperTeen
Pages: 365
Release Date: May 7th 2013
Series: Reboot #1
Where I Got It: Local Library

Synopsis
Five years ago, Wren Connolly was shot three times in the chest. After 178 minutes she came back as a Reboot: stronger, faster, able to heal, and less emotional. The longer Reboots are dead, the less human they are when they return. Wren 178 is the deadliest Reboot in the Republic of Texas. Now seventeen years old, she serves as a soldier for HARC (Human Advancement and Repopulation Corporation).

Wren’s favorite part of the job is training new Reboots, but her latest newbie is the worst she’s ever seen. As a 22, Callum Reyes is practically human. His reflexes are too slow, he’s always asking questions, and his ever-present smile is freaking her out. Yet there’s something about him she can’t ignore. When Callum refuses to follow an order, Wren is given one last chance to get him in line—or she’ll have to eliminate him. Wren has never disobeyed before and knows if she does, she’ll be eliminated, too. But she has also never felt as alive as she does around Callum.

The perfect soldier is done taking orders.

Review

Reboot by Amy Tintera was an amazing dystopian book. I thought it was definitely a great futuristic type book, however, the robot part kind of reminded me of Terminator and The Walking Dead. Just a little, though.

I thought that Wren was so awesome and she was just badass the way she kicked everyone's butts through the book. I loved it when other reboots would be around her and kind of either stare her down (or try to), or just creep away slowly. She also kind of bothered me thought because every time she was around Callum and she felt emotion, she would immediately reject it and say it wasn't actually emotion, it was something else. When obviously it wasn't.

I liked Callum's character, he was very interesting. It was great to see the difference in "numbers" whereas Wren acts totally different from Callum. I would have thought maybe the higher numbers would be more emotional but I guess it makes sense that the ones who slept longer (where dead longer) were the ones who were "dead" inside. I thought that the Reboots would be like zombies or something, but they were just human and had human traits and everything! However, one shot to the head and they are dead so they had to be really careful which made the story that much more exciting.

The story was definitely enjoyable and funny; it had what all dystopian books want: a story! I've read a few dystopian in the past. And I must say, I was not impressed. I put off so may dystopian books and never wanted to read them... then I gave this one a chance and I'm so glad I did! It was awesome; it had enough action to keep me excited and on my seat, and enough romance to make me goo. I loved the story, every bit of it... I would recommend this book to avid readers who enjoy different plots and twists in stories. It was exciting to say in one word.

Review

I received this book in ARC form, from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

I loved it. Another amazing Abbi Glines book. She is definitely my favourite author, especially with all the amazing books she's popping out into the world! Keep it up Abbi!

This book was heartbreaking to say the least. I really was expecting the book to end a different way (I'm sure all you out there who have read it as well know what I'm talking about... yes?), but it ended in a way that I was happy with too. It was a sad book, but the sadness was weighed perfectly with the sexy-ness from Mr. Carter (insert swoon here). He was amazing in this book and all the readers will love him much more with this book: He. Is. Perfection. But he's not and thats the amazing thing about him!

I loved this book from beginning to end, it was a book that I could not put down. It wasn't all lead by love, it had so much more going on in the story. When you read it, you don't expect some of the stuff to happen that does. It is definitely surprising to say the least, but it was surprising in a great way. One of my absolute favourite part of this book: Mase! He was absolutely stealing the show from Grant for quite a bit and that was just fine with me! And when I found out he had a book! Another swoon from me! I loved this story from beginning to end, everything in-between that just made it... it.

It is a book no Abbi Glines fans are going to want to miss. Even though it may be something people can guess will happen, it's not when you find out some other stuff that just gets in the way in the book, however the stuff that gets in the way is this amazing thing in books called drama! All us girls love it and I just can't wait to devour another Abbi Glines book!

Review

I must say, Mrs. Abbi Glines has done it again! Another amazing novel with love and heartbreak! It was so amazingly painful to read, and I loved every moment that I read it!

THIS is a book that if you are a fan of Abbi, you MUST read! I know I say that with a lot of books by Abbi Glines, but this one was awesome! Even if you don't read Rosemary Beach, TAKE A CHANCE on Grant (ha, see what I did there?). Grant, Grant... Grant. Seriously, every time Abbi writes another book, the guys just get even more amazing every time! How? I don't know. However, I will continue to read these fantastic books because they are just that. Fantastic.

The book review:

Grant and Harlow couldn't have been a better match. It is a shame that there is only two books on each of them. They had arguments the way real couples do and I loved that! Nanette was just annoying, but that doesn't mean she doesn't need love. Honestly, after reading this, I feel like she is so insecure and just needs a man and I sure hope there's a book on her because, after she caused so much freaking pain to everyone who finds love, she needs to find some (no, not so they can ruin her love), but so she can be not so bitter.

The story was done in such a way that the reader just can't put the book down. No bathroom breaks, no snack breaks, nothing. And it was awesome. The only reason I paused between was because of the fact that I needed sleep unfortunately. The story just keeps getting more and more exciting as it goes and the ending is like a cliff hanger and you just don't want to have to wait for the next one. But I got an ARC of One More Chance so the review for that will be up soon as well, and I can talk more about Take A Chance. Basically: just. read. it!
