Review

I read this book on January 28th 2014.

I was given this book by the author in exchange for an honest review.

A surprising and fiery New Adult book. Hunter Bane and Autumn Blakewood are an awesome new couple.

I must say, I am happy this couple had so many problems. It resembled a true to life, real couple. It wasn't all sex, and it wasn't all happiness. They had their problems and I loved it!
Hunter was truly cocky and threw out so many innuendos! I loved it! He was so... true to life. The only thing I didn't like was how this book was a happily ever after. It isn't that I don't like HEA, but if you think about it, would that really happen in a case like this? It is very rare.
It was nice that Clarissa Wild wrote from a nerd's point of view. I loved that because I rarely read a nerd. Generally my POV's I read are either incredibly cocky (and hot!) boys, or girls. The girls are generally friendly and have many friends so I don't see them being nerds much.

The thing with this book is that it is a girl in college and so things change quite a bit for High School to College, but Autumn still seemed like a true to life nerd. She stayed home (at the dorm) and did her studying like a good girl. She never broke the law or any rule. When she met Hunter, she broke a few rules and some laws. I enjoyed seeing her change.

The only thing I would change in this book is Autumn's best friend being a lesbian. I think it would be awesome if there was another book on Evie with a guy, like one of Hunter's friends. It would just open opportunity's for more books, is all.

I' wasn't a huge fan of the cover when I first saw it, but after reading the book, I realize it ties in with it! I love that the author made it tie in with the book! I haven't read many books with covers from a scene in the book.

I must say, for a virgin, Autumn was quite vulgar and sometimes I was slightly disturbed by it, but it didn't make me like the book any less. Hunter seemed to be the same way, but wasn't vocal with it (nether was Autumn, though). I think I would love it if I could read this book from Hunter's POV! It would be just fun to pick his brain and see what he thought all those times Autumn surprised him.

I recommend this book to readers who enjoy New Adult romance and a slight mystery.

Excerpt

“Hmm … no, I know what you want. You want to be the first to tame me. And you want

me to ravage you.”

He squints, flashing a grin that’s making me flush so badly.

My folds are getting wet, I can feel it. I can’t help myself, even though I feel so fucking

bad for feeling like this right now. He just does that to me.

But all he wants is to incite me to get angry.

“You’re just making a joke out of this.”

“Why would I?” His eyes are half-mast now.

“Because I told you I never really had a boyfriend before, and you think that’s funny.”

He closes his eyes, cocks his head and laughs loudly. I just stare at him, fazed.

“You really don’t see it, do you?” he says after a while.

“What?”

“I’ve tried to keep you away from me. To show you that I’m a bastard. To make you see

that I’m fucking messed up. And you still want me.”

I suck in my lip as he says those last words.

“Who said I want you? You keep putting those words into my mouth. I never said

anything like that.”

He muffles a laugh, but it sounds more like a guttural groan instead. The sound turns on

every part of my body. It’s hard to ignore my pulsing nub, and the overwhelming need to let

him be the first to take me.

My body is telling me to jump his bones, while my brain is telling me to run as fast as I

can. I don’t know what I really want anymore.

“And don’t say those things about yourself.”

He shakes his head. “But you can?”

“Yes, well―”

“Oh, just shut up already.”

Suddenly he inches closer and presses his lips firmly down onto mine.

My eyes are wide open. Hunter’s lips are crushing mine. He’s kissing me.

Am I dreaming?

His hot mouth covers mine and ravishes me. Alternating soft kisses with harsh ones, he’s

driving me insane.

My eyes close as he keeps kissing me.

He’s so fucking good at this, I swear I’m going to faint. I’ve never been kissed like this

before. He’s like a predator, a prowling animal, and I’m the feast he’s indulging himself with.

His long, lavish licks turn me on so much that I moan in his mouth. He responds with a

groan, sending shocks through my entire body.

We’re kissing in the middle of nowhere, in the rain, both wet and wild, and it’s amazing.

Soon his hands find their way to the small of my back where he digs his fingers into my

skin. His kisses are sexy and sensual, and everything I imagined them being. Licking my lips

in between his kisses, he forces my mouth to part and dips his tongue inside. He explores my

mouth, and lets his hands reign freely over my back. Everywhere he goes, goose bumps pop

up, and my body trembles from his touch.

Hunter steps closer and puts his hands on my waist. He lifts me up and sets me down on

the hood of the car with no problem, continuing his wolfish raid on me. My thighs go watery

as his legs part mine. He nudges me open, getting closer and closer as if he wants to claim my

body right here, right now.

With his full, beautiful mouth on mine, I give up the fight. He’s tempted me, chased me,

persuaded me, and now I’m his.

His scorching kisses feel so hungry, so full of desire, I can’t help but get completely

wound up.

He moans one last time before retreating and gazing right at me. I don’t want him to

stop. The sensual look in his eyes seeps into every one of my pores, awakening my blooming

sexuality.

“You’re not fighting me anymore …” I don’t know if that’s a question or a statement.

His husky voice turns me upside down and makes me feel so aroused.

“I told you I give girls what they want.” The smug smile on his face is both annoyingly sexy as it is fucking vexing. “I knew I’d get you eventually.”

Review

I read this book on January 15th 2014.

I was given this book from the author, in exchange for an honest review.

I don't really read much paranormal or fantasy books... but this book, this one blew me away.

Wow. And this is a debut novel? I am blown away at this book. I don't like fantasy books. I like contemporary much better, but this book was amazing. I'll be honest, in the beginning of the book, I didn't like it much, but the second half raised the rating by about two stars.
It was amazing to be with Lark throughout the years and see him grow from a scrawny little boy to a full grown swoon worthy man. I thought it was amazingly sweet how protective he was of Khea and loved their chemistry. It was nice to see their relationship progress throughout the years.
Khea was one of my favorite female heroines. She was strong willed and very kind. I'm not going to lie, she did annoy me at some points in the book, but that's what made me like her that much more. She isn't one of those characters that you love throughout the entire book.
I thought that the best part of this book was the ending. There was an amazing battle scene that I just loved to read. Man, RS McCoy is not afraid of doing things in her book that I've seen some authors struggle with. She took some battle scenes to the extreme and I loved it! I figured I should also put in a word about Avis.
Avis is a character I appreciated and I enjoyed when we got the chance to see what he was thinking. I did feel a little bad for him when we learn a little more about his past, but I was also happy that such a character was included in the book.
I didn't like how fast things went by in the book. I did feel it was a little rushed at times. I also don't like the book cover much. I think it would be good if it was a hawk and a lark bird. I also didn't like the amount of awkward names. Half the time, when I was reading I wouldn't know who had what spark because I would mix up all the names. They were all very awkward, aside from four or five people.
I really hope that I can get an ARC copy of Spirits. That would be fantastic, and I hope that I can work with RS in the future.
I recommend this book to readers who enjoy fantasy and paranormal books. Also to readers in a book slump or are having a hard time getting back into reading in the new year.

Jo-Anna Walker
I'm a new self published author who just got introduced to the writing world early 2013. My aunt suggested that I write a story because I'm an avid reader but I waved it off and left it alone. Well this year, a story came to me and I went with it. It took me a little bit but I finally got a story idea that worked and now I can't stop or control the characters/stories that keep popping up in my head.
I'm born and raised in Canada and I live with my very wonderful and supportive husband, Michael. We don't have any children (yet) unless you count our cat. My hubby been my rock through this whole new experience for me. I couldn't have done it without him and my friends and family.
One of the many things I love about this new chapter in my life is that I'm learning constantly. It's never a dull moment and as long as one person likes my story, I am happy.

Review: Keeping Her (Losing It #1.5) by Cora Carmack

18386155
Title: Keeping Her
Author: Cora Carmack
Publisher: Williams Morrow
Pages: 119
Release Date: October 1st 2013 (August 13th 2013)
Where I Got It: Amazon.ca

Synopsis: Garrick Taylor and Bliss Edwards managed to find their happily-ever-after despite a rather... ahem... complicated start. By comparison, meeting the parents should be an absolute breeze, right?

But from the moment the pair lands in London, new snags just keep cropping up: a disapproving mother-in-law-to-be, more than one (mostly) minor mishap, and the realization that perhaps they aren't quite as ready for their future as they thought.

As it turns out, the only thing harder than finding love is keeping it.

Cora Carmack
Cora Carmack
Cora Carmack is a twenty-something writer who likes to write about twenty-something characters. She's done a multitude of things in her life-- boring jobs (like working retail), Fun jobs (like working in a theatre), stressful jobs (like teaching), and dream jobs (like writing). She enjoys placing her characters in the most awkward situations possible, and then trying to help them get a boyfriend out of it. Awkward people need love, too. She is the New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of the Losing It series.

Review

I read this book on January 17th 2014.

An interesting short story at Bliss and Garrick - after Losing it, but before Faking It. It's good to go back to Bliss and Garrick.

I felt a little detached when I read this book. I've only read one book by Cora Carmack, Losing It, but this felt different from her writing. I felt as if I didn't know who Bliss and Garrick where - which I thought was strange. That had never happened to me while reading a book. But his one did.

Garrick was his sweet kind and gentle self as usual - Oh, and don't forget swoon worthy! Bliss was still her funny self, clumsy as possible. I enjoyed this short story and liked to go back into Bliss and Garrick's life.

Throughout this novella, I did feel sorry yet happy for Bliss and Garrick, but I got annoyed with Bliss the tiniest bit because she wouldn't share this one thing with Garrick. Yet the book still had it's humor to it.

You know what made this book extra sweet? Reading Garrick's point of view! I mean, wow, I am in love all over again! He is definitely competition to other swoon worthy guys! I mean, he didn't even get angry with her when she didn't feel like sex. And he practically carried her everywhere, which I loved.

I recommend this series to readers who enjoy romantic yet humorous books.
