Now, for the book itself, Daimon (Covenant #0.5) by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Daimon (Covenant, #0.5)
"Love in my world usually ended up with someone hearing 'I smite thee ' as she was cursed to be some lame flower for the rest of her life." For three years, Alexandria has lived among mortals--pretending to be like them and trying to forget the duty she'd been trained to fulfill as a child of a mortal and a demigod. At seventeen, she's pretty much accepted that she's a freak by mortal standards... and that she'll never be prepared for that duty. According to her mother, that's a good thing. But as every descendant of the gods knows, Fate has a way of rearing her ugly head. A horrifying attack forces Alex to flee Miami and try to find her way back to the very place her mother had warned her she should never return-the Covenant. Every step that brings her closer to safety is one more step toward death... because she's being hunted by the very creatures she'd once trained to kill. The daimons have found her.

What Did I Think?

So, I enjoyed reading this novella and all, but it wasn't my favourite. It isn't that I disliked it or don't recommend it, but I thought it was different. I read it before I read Half-Blood, so I wasn't putting it on a pedestal or anything, I just wanted a little more because I loved Jennifer's other novella, Shadows.

My Review

I read this book on March 21st, 2013. Below is my review straight from goodreads.com

3 Stars
I really like the author Jennifer L. Armentrout, so I decided to start this series. I read the prequel before I read the first book like I did with the Lux Series and I'm surprised at how it ended. I kinda wanted to know what happened, but I guess that's what authors have to do to get people to continue reading.
I expected just a little more from Daimon but I don't know why. I guess it was difficult for me to think of it in perspective, although I love Alex, she is rude. But I love Alex because she reminds me of me.
After reading Half-Blood

Now I understand why you would need that book in the series. It explains everything that you need to know for the next book. As said above, I enjoyed Alex's comments and remarks, but I especially love when she put that guys head in the sand! So funny.

Either way, I am going to read Half-Blood and I will read it happily.

I recommend this to anyone who is a fan of Jennifer's writing.

Quotes I Love

“Whatever! Go save a dolphin or something!"

He whirled around. "It's a whale, Alex, a whale! That's what I'm interested in saving."

I threw up my arms. "What's wrong with saving dolphins?”

“Was your mom a gardener?” I asked innocently. “What?” Ren’s mouth hung open slightly.

“Because a face like yours belongs planted on the ground.

“Normal girls didn’t want their boobs mauled either, and I wholly believed if they could’ve landed a fist like I could, they would have.”

“Actually, I was prone to random acts of stupidity. I considered it to be one of my talents.”

“Don’t ask me to give her up before I even really get to know her… Because you’re not going to like my response.”

For Jennifer L. Armentrout – What made you decide to go back and write Daimon? I wanted to show the readers what Alex was facing at the beginning of Half-Blood that caused her to have trust issues and such a bad attitude.

For Alex – If you could time travel back to the day Aiden came to bring you back to the covenant, what’s the one thing you would tell him the moment you saw him? You’re hot.

For Aiden – Knowing the end, would you still go after Alex to bring her back to the covenant? I would have still gone after Alex, but I wouldn’t have taken her back to the Covenant. I would have taken her away somewhere that I felt I could protect her.
