Review: Obsidian (Lux #1) by Jennifer L. Armentrout

12578077Title: Obsidian
Author: Jennifer L. Armentrout
Publisher: Entangled Teen
Pages: 335
Series: Lux #1
Where I Got It: Barnes and Noble

Synopsis: Starting over sucks.

When we moved to West Virginia right before my senior year, I'd pretty much resigned myself to thick accents, dodgy internet access, and a whole lot of boring.... until I spotted my hot neighbor, with his looming height and eerie green eyes. Things were looking up.

And then he opened his mouth.

Daemon is infuriating. Arrogant. Stab-worthy. We do not get along. At all. But when a stranger attacks me and Daemon literally freezes time with a wave of his hand, well, something...unexpected happens.

The hot alien living next door marks me.

You heard me. Alien. Turns out Daemon and his sister have a galaxy of enemies wanting to steal their abilities, and Daemon's touch has me lit up like the Vegas Strip. The only way I'm getting out of this alive is by sticking close to Daemon until my alien mojo fades.

If I don't kill him first, that is.

Review

I read this book on December 29th 2013.

I thought this book was many things. Romantic, adoring, sweet, caring, and annoying. First he was arrogant then, suddenly, he just helped her and gave her directions in the first chapter. I could tell he didn't want to be mean to her and I soon found that to be true when I read the three extra chapters from Daemons point of view.

I just wanted Katy to be with Daemon but so many obstacles came in their way. The ending was just surprising. I wanted to continue reading, to have the knowledge of what will happen between them and what is coming next. I wanted desperately for the things Daemon gave to Katy for myself. I believe that for the first time in a long time, I really felt like I was in the novel and watching it and interacting with them.

I knew that Daemon and Katy were meant to be together and Katy just wouldn't allow herself to give in. If she did give in then he would end up being a jerk in the end. I think he was a jerk because he was scared of what they could be. In this book, I found Daemon was "good-looking", in book terms, but he was an arrogant jerk. I sure hope I like him more in Onyx. Also, in the end of this book, what is Daemon's problem? Jut cause something happened between you and Katy, doesn't mean you were meant to be! If some guy said that to me, I would be furious.

I recommend this to readers who love paranormal romance novels.
