Happy Book Birthday Obsidian: November 23rd 2011

Obsidian came out on November 23rd 2011 and, as of November 23rd 2013, it has been out for 2 years and is still overly popular. Sorry to post this a little late, but my schedule has been a little busy.
Today I'm overly happy to tell you guys that I've done my first author interview (clapping)!
I will show you the book and the author and at the bottom will be the author interview.

Obsidian (Lux #1) by Jennifer L. Armentrout

12578077Starting over sucks.

When we moved to West Virginia right before my senior year, I'd pretty much resigned myself to thick accents, dodgy internet access, and a whole lot of boring.... until I spotted my hot neighbor, with his looming height and eerie green eyes. Things were looking up.
And then he opened his mouth.
Daemon is infuriating. Arrogant. Stab-worthy. We do not get along. At all. But when a stranger attacks me and Daemon literally freezes time with a wave of his hand, well, something...unexpected happens.
The hot alien living next door marks me.
You heard me. Alien. Turns out Daemon and his sister have a galaxy of enemies wanting to steal their abilities, and Daemon's touch has me lit up like the Vegas Strip. The only way I'm getting out of this alive is by sticking close to Daemon until my alien mojo fades.
If I don't kill him first, that is.

Jennifer L. Armentrout

# 1 New York Times and USA Today Bestselling Author Jennifer L. Armentrout Lives in West Virginia.
All the rumors you heard about her state aren’t true.
Well, mostly. When she's not hard at work writing, she spends her time, reading, working out, watching zombie movies, and pretending to write.
She is the author of the Covenant Series (Spencer Hill Press), the Lux Series (Entangled Teen), Don't Look Back (Disney/Hyperion) and a yet untitled novel (Disney/Hyperion), and new YA paranormal series with Harlequin Teen.
Jennifer also writes New Adult and Adult romance under the pen name J. Lynn. The Gamble Brothers Series (Tempting the Best Man/Tempting the Player) and Wait for You. Under her pen name, she is published with Entangled Brazen and HarperCollins.

Author Interview

Question 1: How did you come up with the idea of Obsidian?  My editor approached me about writing a book about aliens in high school.  At first, I laughed at the suggestion, but then I came up with the characters of Katy and Daemon and their story.  I started writing and I wrote the first draft in a week.

Question 2: When you thought of Daemon and started writing him, when did you decide to make him the way he was? (Rude, arrogant, sweet). Did you consider making him a golden boy? I wrote White Hot Kiss, the first book in the Dark Elements series, before I wrote Obsidian.  Daemon’s character’s personality is loosely based on Roth from that series.  I think Daemon is really a toned down version of Roth.

Question 3: Do you ever base your characters off people you know?  I don’t usually base my characters on real people, but I do sometimes use the names of actual people.

Question 4: Are you excited for the Lux series to end or do you wish it could last longer?  I’m excited because I want readers to get the final book in the series.  But, I love writing Katy and Daemon, so I will miss getting to write their characters and their story.

Question 5: What’s your favourite movie?  I really love zombie movies, but it’s hard to choose my favorite.
M&M’s or Skittles?  M&M’s
Day or Night? Night
Sunshine or Rain?  Sunshine
Bad boy or Golden boy? Bad boy
Chips or chocolate?  Chips
Sweet or sour?  Sour
Comedy or thriller?  Thriller
Walking Dead or Supernatural? Supernatural
